Fertilizer use has increased by 57% from the year 2003-2004. AP is the highest consumer of fertilizers per Ha of agricultural land in the country.
Forest and tree cover- 25.64% of the total area 36916 Sq Km, gap of 7.36% (11.31 Lakh Ha) to achieve 33% forest/tree cover.
Andhra Pradesh is the 1st State to create a Green House Gases emissions inventory.
1977 to 2014 – State has witnessed 26 floods, 25 cyclones, affecting 747 lakh population, and a revenue loss of INR 73,651 crores.
The objective of APs SAPCC include inclusive and sustainable development of the state, improved ecological sustainability, provision of a framework to promote integrated climate change growth, and development of innovative policies to promote sustainable development.
EXISTING SCHEMES, POLICIES AND PROGRAMMES
- National Afforestation Programme (National Mission for a Green India) – An amount of INR 1242.71 lakhs is provided under Central Assistance to State Development Plan, and INR 486.63 lakhs as matching state share.
- Integrated Watershed Management (IWMP) – This scheme has been implemented to restore ecological balance by harnessing, conserving and developing sustainable livelihoods. An amount of INR 19600 lakhs is provided in budget 2016-2017.
- National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture – An amount of INR 4279.50 lakhs has been provided in the Budget 2016-17.
- Government allocated Rs. 5,838.65 crores towards agriculture development during 2016-17; of this:
- - Rs. 50 crores is for Drought Proofing;
- - 41 crores for creation of viable farm livelihoods by promotion of organic and natural farming;
- - Rs. 344 crores for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana (all new schemes);
- - Rs. 54 crores for National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology;
- - Rs. 79 crores for National Oil Seed and Oil Palm Mission, which is 79% higher than last year
- - Rs. 232 Crores for Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, which is 24% higher than last year.
